Senga Seeks His Place in the Postseason with the Mets

Kodai Senga could be playing for a spot in the New York Mets’ pitching staff for the postseason. Senga, who had a promising start to the season, was sent to Triple-A Syracuse after experiencing difficulties following an injury.
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza expressed the importance of Senga proving his worth on the field. “I think the most important thing for him is to go out there today and have a good performance. Then we’ll make decisions,” Mendoza said.
The Mets are in a competitive position in the fight for the playoffs, so every game is crucial.
Last season, the Mets showed their determination by including Senga in the playoff roster, despite the injuries that kept him out for a considerable time.
In his debut with Syracuse, Senga impressed with an outstanding performance, including eight strikeouts and no walks. Mendoza highlighted the importance of the pitcher staying aggressive on the mound.
In addition to Senga’s situation, the Mets have been making adjustments to their pitching staff.
Reed Garrett was placed on the injured list for the second time in a month due to an elbow injury, while Sean Manaea was placed on the paternity list, and Dom Hamel was designated for assignment. To reinforce the team, the Mets called up Huascar Brazobán, Chris Devenski, and Wander Suero from Triple-A Syracuse.
Mendoza expressed his concern about Garrett’s situation, who has had trouble recovering after his outings. It is likely that Garrett will not pitch again this season.
The Mets have used a record number of pitchers this season and have lost several key members of their bullpen.
Brazobán, Devenski, and Suero offer depth to the team, and could be used in important roles if Manaea doesn’t return this weekend.
The Mets are looking to secure their place in the playoffs and are making strategic decisions to achieve this.
Manager Carlos Mendoza said they will make sure Manaea can continue his routine between his starts before making any decision.
