Cam Schlittler Criticizes Harassment from Red Sox Fans
Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler expressed his discontent at the harassment suffered by his family through social media by Red Sox fans. Schlittler, a native of Walpole, Massachusetts, and with strong ties to Boston, expected some provocations, but not to the level that his loved ones experienced. The 24-year-old turned anger into a historic performance on the mound, achieving one of the best pitching performances in postseason history. In his playoff debut, he pitched eight scoreless innings, with 12 strikeouts and zero walks, using a total of 107 pitches. Schlittler stated that the harassment was something “personal” and thanked the fans for motivating him. Family and friends who are still Red Sox fanatics sent him congratulatory messages, although they regretted the situation. Schlittler is scheduled to open in Game 4 of the American League Division Series in New York, if necessary.“I think if it was another hobby that was attacking them, I’d probably be a little more okay with it,” Schlittler stated before Yankees training at Rogers Centre.
