Nolan Schanuel left the game after being hit by a pitch
Philadelphia – Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel was removed from Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies after being hit by a pitch.
Schanuel apparently received a velocity change from Phillies’ opener Ranger Suárez on the top of the left wrist or forearm in the first inning. He rushed to first base showing evident pain. After being checked by a trainer, Schanuel remained in the game.
Schanuel did not play in the field in the bottom of the inning. LaMonte Wade Jr. replaced him at first base, batting second.
In 95 games of this, his third season, Schanuel is batting .274 with eight home runs and 40 RBIs.
There was no immediate information on the details of Schanuel’s injury.
