KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Pérez was hit by a pitch on the left elbow during Monday night’s game against the Atlanta Braves.
Pérez took the hit in the third inning from a 94 mph fastball thrown by Spencer Strider. Despite this, he remained in the game until the fifth inning, when he was replaced by Freddy Fermin.
Pérez, who has been selected to the All-Star Game nine times and has won the Gold Glove five times, as well as being the World Series Most Valuable Player in 2015, had a batting average of .293 with 15 home runs and 62 RBIs.
