Ryan Pressly Hangs Up His Glove After Successful MLB Career

Star reliever and two-time All-Star, Ryan Pressly, has announced his retirement from professional baseball after a 13-year career. During his career, Pressly accumulated 117 saves and was a key player in the 2022 World Series championship with the Houston Astros.

“It’s bittersweet, but what a great journey it has been,” Pressly said in an official statement about his retirement.

At 37 years old, Pressly left an indelible mark on the sport. During the 2022 postseason, the pitcher recorded six saves and allowed only one unearned run in 11 innings pitched, demonstrating his ability to perform under pressure. His performance was crucial for the Astros to conquer the World Series over the Philadelphia Phillies in six games, where he added two saves and only conceded one unearned run in 5 1/4 innings. Pressly’s legacy includes a 37-39 record, a 3.33 ERA, and 117 saves throughout his career. The pitcher played for the Minnesota Twins (2013-18), the Houston Astros (2018-24), and the Chicago Cubs (2025). In 667 appearances as a reliever, Pressly struck out 721 batters in 691⅓ innings. He was selected for the All-Star Game with the Astros in 2019 and 2021. In 47 postseason appearances, he went 3-1 with a 2.78 ERA and 14 saves.
