The Kansas City Royals have secured the services of former Cy Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel on a minor league contract, the team announced this Wednesday.The 37-year-old left-handed pitcher will begin his participation in Triple-A Omaha and, if promoted to the Major Leagues, will receive a prorated salary of 2 million dollars.Keuchel hasn’t pitched in the majors for almost a full year. He became a free agent on July 18, 2024, after being designated for assignment by the Milwaukee Brewers.In his four starts with the Brewers last season, Keuchel recorded an ERA of 5.40 in 16 2/3 innings, without getting a decision.Throughout his 13 seasons in the Major Leagues, the 2015 American League Cy Young Award winner with the Houston Astros has a record of 103-92 with an ERA of 4.04 in 282 appearances, of which 267 were as a starter.After his first seven seasons with the Astros, Keuchel has played for six different teams since 2019. He was a World Series champion with Houston in 2017 and has been selected twice for the All-Star, in addition to winning five Gold Gloves.
