Seth Lugo to the injured list with back problems
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Royals have placed right-handed pitcher Seth Lugo on the 15-day injured list due to a lower back strain. The move is retroactive to Monday. Originally scheduled to start Thursday night against the Los Angeles Angels, Lugo (8-7) was scratched Wednesday due to back discomfort.Right-handed pitcher Stephen Kolek took Lugo’s place on the roster. Kolek was expected to be the starter on Saturday against Minnesota.He went out and tried to play catch today, his back was still pretty stiff, so we’re going to put him on the injured list.
