Royals Activate Erceg and Re-assign Ragans to the Injured List

The Kansas City Royals have made significant moves to their roster, with Cole Ragans returning to the injured list and Lucas Erceg being activated. Left-handed pitcher Cole Ragans has been moved to the injured list due to a strain in his left rotator cuff, following an unfavorable performance against the Cardinals. On the other hand, reliever Lucas Erceg has been activated from the injured list before Wednesday night’s game against the Yankees. Jonathan Bowlan was called up from Triple-A Omaha and Trevor Richards was designated for assignment. Ragans, who was an All-Star last season, had already been on the injured list in mid-May due to a left groin strain. He returned to the field three weeks later, but allowed five runs in three innings against St. Louis. In the past season, Ragans had an 11-9 record with an ERA of 3.14 in 34 starts. In the current season, his record is 2-3 with an ERA of 5.18 in 10 starts. The Royals have six starters in their rotation, allowing them to cope with Ragans’ absence without drastically altering their plans. Kris Bubic and Noah Cameron have performed well at the start of the season, while Seth Lugo, Michael Wacha, and Michael Lorenzen have offered consistent innings. Erceg, who closed games last season, has been on the injured list since May 27 due to a lower back strain. In 24 appearances, he has an ERA of 1.96 in 23 innings. Bowlan has participated in nine games this season, with a 1-1 record and an ERA of 4.09. Richards allowed four runs in three innings in three appearances with the Royals.
