Brendan Rodgers Suffers Concussion and Broken Nose in Rehabilitation Match
The Houston Astros’ second baseman, Brendan Rodgers, suffered a concussion and a broken nose after colliding with a teammate during a minor league rehabilitation game, the team reported on Saturday.
Rodgers, 28 years old, was playing for the Triple-A Sugar Land team on Friday night, in the first game of his rehabilitation assignment. The incident occurred in the third inning.
The player had been out of action since June 15 due to a strain in the left oblique.
The Astros indicated that Rodgers will be evaluated in the coming days to determine the extent of the injuries.
In the 43 games he has played with Houston this season, Rodgers is batting .191, with two home runs and 11 RBIs.
Selected as the third overall pick in the 2015 amateur draft by Colorado, Rodgers played for the Rockies from 2019 to 2024.
