The Colorado Rockies have made a significant decision in their pitching rotation. Chase Dollander, a promising prospect, has been sent to Triple-A Albuquerque after having a stint in the starting rotation.
On the other hand, right-handed pitcher Bradley Blalock has been called up to the main team.
Dollander, 23, was not part of the Rockies’ initial roster on Opening Day. However, he was called up to the main team at the start of the season, debuting in the Major Leagues on April 6, where he earned a win against the Athletics.
In 15 starts, Dollander recorded a 2-9 record with a 6.68 ERA in 68⅓ innings. He had a brief stint on the injured list due to right forearm discomfort.
His best performance of the season was on May 12 against the Texas Rangers, where he struck out seven batters. He also stood out on May 18 against the Arizona Diamondbacks, allowing only one run in 4 1/4 innings before being placed on the injured list.
The Rockies selected Dollander with the ninth overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, coming from the University of Tennessee.
Blalock’s Situation
Blalock, 24, has a 0-2 record with a 12.94 ERA in five appearances (three as a starter) with the Rockies so far this season.
In his career, Blalock has a 1-5 record with an 8.29 ERA in 12 appearances (nine as a starter) between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Rockies in the last two seasons.
