Rockies Moves: Keston Hiura Designated for Assignment
The Colorado Rockies have made important decisions regarding their roster. First baseman Keston Hiura was designated for assignment after Sunday’s game.
In response to this situation, the team called up Michael Toglia from Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday. The Rockies did not make any other moves to cover Hiura’s absence on the 40-man roster.
Hiura, 28, batted .222 in eight games this season, his first with the Rockies. Over his career, he has maintained a .235 batting average, with 50 home runs and 134 RBIs, playing for the Milwaukee Brewers (2019-22), Los Angeles Angels (2024), and the Rockies.
Toglia, 26, is batting .194 in 54 games this season. In his four seasons with the Rockies, including 116 games in 2024, his average is .203. He has 37 home runs and 96 RBIs in his career.
Toglia was selected by the Rockies in the 2019 draft, with the number 23 pick.
