Luis Robert Jr. to the Injured List: A Blow for the White Sox

CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have placed Luis Robert Jr. on the 10-day injured list. This is unfortunate news for the center fielder, who had begun to show good performance at the plate.

Robert suffered a strain in his left hamstring. He had to leave Tuesday night’s game against Kansas City, where the White Sox lost 5-4, due to hamstring discomfort.

The team also called up outfielder Will Robertson from Triple-A Charlotte for the final game of the series against the Royals.

Robert, 28, had a complicated start to the season, batting .190 with nine home runs, 35 RBIs, and 93 strikeouts in his first 79 games. There was speculation about his possible departure before the trade deadline, but the White Sox decided to keep the struggling hitter.

However, his performance improved noticeably after the All-Star break, batting .298 (34 for 114) with five home runs and 18 RBIs in his last 31 games.

Robert, who was an All-Star in 2023, has 102 home runs and 102 stolen bases in 577 career games. He joins Minnie Miñoso, Ray Durham, and Alexei Ramírez as the only players to record at least 100 home runs and 100 stolen bases with the franchise.
