Cincinnati Reds Activate Marte and Ashcraft from Injured List

The Cincinnati Reds have activated infielder Noelvi Marte and reliever Graham Ashcraft from the injured list this Friday. Marte, 23 years old, was on the 10-day injured list due to an oblique strain he suffered in early May. Before the injury, he batted .294 with three home runs and 17 RBIs in 19 games. The player started at third base and batted seventh in Friday afternoon’s game against Philadelphia. Ashcraft, 27, was on the 15-day injured list with a right groin strain and hasn’t pitched since June 15. The right-handed pitcher is 5-4 with a 4.19 ERA in 29 relief appearances this season. In corresponding moves, the Reds sent infielder/outfielder Ryan Vilade and right-handed pitcher Sam Benschoter to Triple-A Louisville.
