Jung Hoo Lee makes a spectacular catch

San Francisco Giants center fielder Jung Hoo Lee may have made the catch of the year.

In a match where the Giants defeated the Rays with a score of 7-1, Lee demonstrated his defensive prowess in an amazing way.

Yandy Díaz, from Tampa Bay, hit a ball that went towards the center-right field, known as “Triples Alley” at Oracle Park. Lee, in a play that generated great impact on social media, dove to catch the ball.

Lee ran to his left and, as he slid on his left leg, the ball bounced off his glove. The ball hit his left thigh, rolled towards his left calf, and finally, rose to be secured by Lee, who caught it between his knees and secured it with his glove.

The swift 26-year-old South Korean player has become a fan favorite in San Francisco since signing a six-year, $113 million contract before the 2024 season.

Lee has possibly been the Giants’ best player this season, playing regularly after his rookie season was cut short to 26 games due to an injury. He has recovered after undergoing season-ending surgery due to a dislocated left shoulder, suffered when crashing into a wall in the outfield.
