The Texas Rangers announced the inclusion of Tyler Mahle on the 15-day injured list this Sunday. In his place, the team called up right-handed pitcher Kumar Rocker from Triple-A Round Rock.

Rocker, with a 1-4 record and an ERA of 8.87, will be the Rangers’ starter in the game against the Chicago White Sox this Sunday afternoon in Arlington, Texas. So far, Rocker has not had the opportunity to face the White Sox in his two seasons in the Major Leagues.

Initially, Sunday was scheduled as a bullpen game to give Mahle an extra day of rest. Texas manager Bruce Bochy confirmed on Saturday that Mahle is dealing with fatigue in his right shoulder, a problem that manifested in his last start against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday.

Mahle, 30 years old, has a 6-3 record with a 2.34 ERA in 14 starts this season.

The pitcher has played in the majors for nine seasons, including five and a half seasons with the Cincinnati Reds before being traded to the Twins in 2022. His best season was in 2021, when he obtained a 13-6 record with a 3.75 ERA in 33 starts for the Reds.
