Adolis García Returns to Action with the Rangers
The Texas Rangers received a significant boost to their playoff push this Sunday, with the activation of outfielder Adolis García from the 10-day injured list. García, who missed 10 games due to a right quadriceps strain, was scheduled to bat fourth and play in right field in the final game of the series against the New York Mets. This is the second time in a month that Garcia has entered the injured list. Previously, he was out of action from August 13 to 22 due to a sprained left ankle. The former All-Star and Gold Glove winner is batting .235 with 18 home runs and 73 RBIs this season. After his return from the ankle injury, Garcia batted .368 with two home runs, nine RBIs, and three steals in nine games. However, he suffered a new injury while trying to avoid a double play against the Arizona Diamondbacks on September 1.Despite the multiple injuries that have affected the team, the Rangers arrived on Sunday with a six-game winning streak and the best record in Major League Baseball (16-4) since August 23. In the fight for the American League West Division, Texas was two games behind the Houston Astros and the Seattle Mariners. Second baseman Marcus Semien (left foot) and pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (right rotator cuff) are likely out for the remainder of the regular season. Shortstop Corey Seager is recovering from an appendectomy. To make room on the roster for Garcia, the Rangers sent outfielder Dustin Harris to Triple-A Round Rock.“It’s always good to have one of your key players back. He was hitting very well when he got injured,” commented Rangers manager Bruce Bochy.
