Nathan Eovaldi Undergoes Surgery and Will Be Ready for 2026

Texas Rangers right-handed pitcher Nathan Eovaldi has undergone surgery for a sports hernia and is expected to be fully recovered for the start of the 2026 season. Eovaldi, who had an outstanding season with the Rangers, recording an 11-3 record and a 1.73 ERA in 22 starts, underwent surgery in Phoenix. He is anticipated to be ready to return to action in approximately four weeks, according to sources close to the team. At the end of August, Eovaldi was sidelined due to a rotator cuff strain. However, the examinations carried out last week indicated a good evolution of the injury.

Despite not reaching the number of innings needed to lead MLB, Eovaldi proved to be one of the best baseball pitchers during the season. His contribution was key to the Rangers having a 3.47 ERA as a team, the best in MLB.

Eovaldi, 35, was not included in the American League team for the All-Star Game due to elbow inflammation that kept him out of action for much of June. However, the Rangers awarded him a $100,000 bonus, stipulated in his contract, in recognition of his performance. This was the third consecutive season in which Eovaldi achieved at least 11 victories since joining the Rangers. In December, he signed a three-year, $75 million contract, which extends until 2027. Throughout his Major League career, Eovaldi has a record of 102-84 and an ERA of 3.84 in 14 seasons, playing for six different teams. He has been a World Series champion with the Red Sox in 2018 and with the Rangers in 2023.
