Adolis García in Recovery: Rangers Seek Changes

The Texas Rangers’ star outfielder, Adolis García, is out of the starting lineup for the third consecutive day. The team’s management has decided that the player needs to make mechanical adjustments to improve his performance.

We need you to commit to some of these changes that we believe will return you to the version of yourself from 2023 and help you be the player we know you can be.

Chris Young, Rangers President of Baseball Operations

García has experienced a slump in his performance, batting .155 in the last 20 games, with 25 strikeouts. Overall, his batting average is .208, with seven home runs and 27 RBIs, leading the team in the latter aspect. It is noteworthy that García ranked 14th in the majors with 122 home runs in the last four seasons.

The player, who has started in 55 of the Rangers’ 60 games in right field this season, had only missed one game before this weekend. Manager Bruce Bochy explained that García was being given a mental break.

It’s about a mental reset and coming back with more energy. I’m working on some things without the pressure of having to do something up there.

García, 32, is in the final season of his two-year contract. The return of Evan Carter to the active roster is expected on Tuesday, joining Wyatt Langford, Alejandro Osuna, and Sam Haggerty, increasing competition in the Rangers’ outfield as García seeks to regain his place in the lineup.

At this point, everything will depend on performance.

Before Sunday’s game, Texas also made three moves on its roster. Right-handed pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (triceps fatigue) was placed on the 15-day injured list retroactive to Thursday to allow him to start later this week, catcher Tucker Barnhart was designated for assignment, and right-handed pitcher Codi Heuer was selected from Triple-A Round Rock.
