Dennis Santana Suspended After Incident with a Fan

Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Dennis Santana has been suspended for four games and fined for aggressive behavior toward a fan during the second game of a doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday, according to an announcement by Major League Baseball on Friday. Santana appealed the suspension and is eligible to pitch in Friday’s home game against the Texas Rangers. In videos spread on social media, Santana is seen pointing at the fan to a police officer before jumping and pouncing on the person, who was in the front row above the Pittsburgh bullpen at Comerica Park. Santana told reporters after the incident that he believed the fan “crossed the line,” although he declined to reveal what the fan said. After pouncing on the fan, Santana was escorted by Pirates bullpen personnel and restrained by a teammate.

You know me, I am a person of calm behavior. I have never had any problem with any of the teams I have played for. This guy crossed the line several times.
