Pittsburgh Pirates Bolster Roster with New Pitchers

The Pittsburgh Pirates have made strategic moves in their roster, calling up pitchers Evan Sisk and Colin Holderman from Triple-A Indianapolis before their series against the Cubs in Chicago. In a related decision, the team designated left-handed pitcher Ryan Borucki for assignment. This decision comes after right-handed pitcher Cam Sanders was sent to Indianapolis on Wednesday, following a loss to Milwaukee that extended the Pirates’ losing streak to five games. Sisk, a 28-year-old rookie reliever, was acquired from Kansas City at the trade deadline. In his time with Kansas City, Sisk participated in five games with an earned run average of 1.69. Holderman, 29, last pitched for the Pirates on May 19, with a 0-1 record and a 9.00 ERA in 14 relief appearances before being sent to the minors. Over his major league career with the Mets and Pirates, Holderman is 8-10 with a 4.12 ERA. Borucki, for his part, has a record of 15-12 with an effectiveness of 4.36 in eight seasons with Toronto, Seattle and Pittsburgh. This season, he recorded a 1-3 with an effectiveness of 5.28 in 35 games and 30⅔ innings with the Pirates. In his last appearance, Borucki allowed three runs in one inning against the Brewers.
