Philadelphia Phillies Adjust Their Bullpen
The leaders of the National League East, the Philadelphia Phillies, have made significant adjustments to their bullpen. The news comes after a loss to the New York Mets, where the bullpen struggled. Pitcher Jordan Romano has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to finger inflammation. In addition, the team has released reliever Joe Ross. Both pitchers had ineffective performances in the recent game against the Mets. The Phillies’ management has responded by calling up Daniel Robert and selecting Lou Trivino from Triple-A. Romano, who allowed a three-run homer on Monday, has been dealing with finger issues for a while, according to manager Rob Thomson.Romano, a two-time All-Star, signed with the Phillies in December and began the season as a closer. However, he has struggled, with a 2-4 record and an 8.23 ERA in 49 appearances. Ross, for his part, had a 2-1 record with an ERA of 5.12 in 36 relief appearances and one start. He allowed three runs in Monday’s game. Trivino, who signed with the Phillies as a minor league free agent, has performed well in Triple-A. Thomson expects both Trivino and Robert to be able to pitch multiple innings. The Phillies began the day with a six-game lead in the National League East over the Mets. The problem could have affected his variable speed this season.
