Phillies Rout Marlins with Home Run Festival
The Philadelphia Phillies secured their direct pass to the postseason with a resounding 11-1 victory over the Miami Marlins. The team, already champions of the National League East Division, demonstrated their offensive power with a record of eight home runs.
Edmundo Sosa led the attack with three home runs, while Kyle Schwarber hit two, adding to his personal count and solidifying himself at the top of the National League.
Schwarber, with his 55th and 56th home runs of the season, closed to within two of the league leader, Cal Raleigh of Seattle.
The game, held on Wednesday night, saw the Phillies demonstrate their dominance from the start, securing a spot in the Division Series that will begin at home on October 4.
In addition to Sosa and Schwarber, Bryson Stott, Alec Bohm, and Otto Kemp also joined the home run party, contributing to the team’s impressive offensive performance.
Edmundo Sosa returned to the team after a groin injury, demonstrating his immediate impact.
In the mound, Marlins pitcher Jesus Luzardo struck out 10 batters in seven innings, allowing only one run and three hits against his former team.
Marlins’ opener Ryan Weathers had a less fortunate performance, allowing five runs in 4⅔ innings, including three home runs.
