Martin Pérez Leaves the Game Due to Shoulder Discomfort

CHICAGO – Chicago White Sox left-handed pitcher Martin Pérez had to leave his start against Baltimore on Wednesday due to left shoulder discomfort.

Pérez, who was out for nearly four months this season due to a hamstring strain, called for a timeout after throwing a ball with two outs in the fourth inning. He left the game after being visited by manager Will Venable and an athletic trainer on the mound.

Steven Wilson replaced Pérez and struck out Jackson Holliday to end the inning.

The 34-year-old player, Pérez, is in his fourteenth season in the Major Leagues, his first with the White Sox. This was his sixth start in seven appearances since returning from the 60-day injured list on August 13.

Pérez, who has an effectiveness of 3.54 in his 11 games this season, allowed three runs and five hits against Baltimore. The White Sox were losing 3-0 when he left the game.
