Michael King to the Injured List with Knee Inflammation
The San Diego Padres have placed right-handed pitcher Michael King on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in his left knee.
King, who has a 4-2 record with an ERA of 2.81, had recently returned from the injured list last Saturday. In that game, he allowed two runs in two innings, without getting a decision against the Boston Red Sox.
This was his first start since May 18, after dealing with shoulder inflammation.
Now, King returns to the injured list with a knee problem, a decision retroactive to Monday.
This situation represents a setback for the Padres, who are currently in a good moment, with a streak of five consecutive victories.
King was scheduled to be the starting pitcher in Friday’s series opener.
In response to this situation, the Padres have called up right-handed pitcher Randy Vásquez from Triple-A El Paso.
