Jackson Merrill to the Injured List with a Concussion

San Diego Padres’ star outfielder Jackson Merrill has been placed on the seven-day injured list, according to an announcement made on Sunday. The decision comes after Merrill sustained a concussion during Saturday night’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The incident occurred in the seventh inning, while Merrill was trying to steal a base. He was hit in the helmet by Arizona’s second baseman, Ketel Marte, during his headfirst slide. Merrill remained on the ground for several minutes before leaving the field. Brandon Lockridge replaced him in the outfield.
