Gavin Sheets Leaves Game After Shocking Collision With Wall

San Diego Padres left fielder Gavin Sheets was forced to leave Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates after a hard collision with the outfield wall. The incident occurred while he was attempting to catch a home run hit by Adam Frazier in the fourth inning.

Sheets, after a quick look at the wall, focused on the ball’s trajectory and ended up hitting the padded surface head-on, leaving a clear mark of the impact. The ball, for its part, hit the top of the wall and bounced towards the stands, which allowed Pittsburgh to take a 4-1 lead. The player remained on the ground for several minutes, receiving attention from the medical staff. Fortunately, he was able to leave the field on his own two feet, being replaced by Brandon Lockridge.
