Zach Eflin to the Injured List with Back Discomfort
ARLINGTON, Texas – The Baltimore Orioles have placed right-handed pitcher Zach Eflin on the 15-day injured list due to lower back discomfort.
Eflin suffered the injury on Saturday during the 11-3 loss to Tampa Bay. He allowed four runs and five hits in one inning before being replaced by Scott Blewett.
The 31-year-old pitcher, who was the Opening Day starter for Baltimore, has a 6-5 record with a 5.95 ERA in 12 starts, as part of a disappointing season for the Orioles. He was previously on the injured list from April 8 to May 11 due to a right lat strain.
Right-handed pitcher Brandon Young was called up from Triple-A Norfolk before the start of the three-game series in Texas. Young has a 0-2 record with a 7.11 ERA in three starts for the Orioles this season.
