Cedric Mullins to the Injured List: Orioles Suffer Significant Loss

The Baltimore Orioles announced this Friday the inclusion of outfielder Cedric Mullins on the 10-day injured list due to a right hamstring strain. The news comes just before the start of the series against the Chicago White Sox. Mullins, who has participated in 50 games this season, including Wednesday’s game against St. Louis, where he played all nine innings, is a fundamental pillar of the team. The outfielder leads the Orioles with 10 home runs, 31 RBIs, and 19 extra-base hits. Baltimore, with a record of 19-36, is in a difficult situation, holding the third-worst record in the league. Mullins’ injury coincides with the anticipated return of Colton Cowser, who is in the process of rehabilitation in Triple-A Norfolk. In response to this situation, the Orioles have signed infielder Cooper Hummel to a one-year contract in the major league. It is speculated that Baltimore could be one of the few teams that sell players at the MLB trade deadline, with Mullins being one of the most attractive pieces for other teams. Mullins, 30, will become a free agent in 2026. His versatility in the field, capable of playing all three outfield positions, and his consistent offensive performance, with over 15 home runs and 50 RBIs in the last four seasons, make him a valuable player.

In 2021, Mullins was selected for the All-Star Game, excelling with 30 home runs, 59 RBIs, and a batting average of .291 in 159 games.
