Connor Norby Returns to Marlins Roster After Injury
The Miami Marlins activated third baseman Connor Norby this Friday, marking his return to the team after overcoming a fracture in the hook bone of his left wrist, an injury that kept him out of action for more than a month. Norby’s last appearance on the field was on July 11 in Baltimore. Initially, the discomfort was attributed to inflammation in the wrist. On July 16, the player underwent surgery by hand specialist Dr. Don Sheridan in Phoenix. Norby’s return to the team was finalized in the game against the New York Mets, where he was placed in the sixth position in the batting order. This return comes after having participated in five rehabilitation games with the Triple-A Jacksonville team. Before this injury, Norby was out of action for the first three weeks of the season due to an oblique strain. In the 72 games he played, he batted .241, hitting six home runs and driving in 26 runs. The Marlins acquired Norby at the 2024 trade deadline, coming from Baltimore. In the previous season, playing for the Orioles and the Marlins, Norby batted .236, with nine home runs and 20 RBIs in 45 games. To make room on the roster, infielder Maximo Acosta was sent to Jacksonville. Acosta batted .167 (4 for 24) in nine games. We are very excited to have Connor back. He worked very hard alongside our training staff to recover as quickly as possible.
