Daylen Lile leaves the game due to injury
The Washington Nationals’ rookie outfielder, Daylen Lile, had to leave Sunday’s game against the New York Mets due to a left knee contusion. Lile attempted a diving catch on a hit by Cedric Mullins in left field, which caused the injury. At first, it seemed that Lile had suffered a serious injury after colliding with the garden wall in the third inning. The 22-year-old player, who on Saturday hit an inside-the-park home run with two runs in the Nationals’ 5-3 victory in the 11th inning, writhed in pain.
Although a wheelchair was requested, Lile got up, refused assistance, and walked, limping minimally, towards the Nationals’ bench. He was replaced by Robert Hassell III. On Sunday, Lile went 1-1 with a run scored. In 86 games, he is batting .290 with seven home runs, 35 RBIs, and 11 triples, tied for third in the major leagues. So far this month, he has hit seven triples in 20 games.
