Jacob Misiorowski: The Brewers’ New Star at the All-Star Game
The Milwaukee Brewers’ rookie pitcher, Jacob Misiorowski, has been selected as a replacement for the National League All-Star Game. This designation gives him the opportunity to surpass Paul Skenes’ record for the fewest MLB appearances before participating in the mid-season classic.
Misiorowski, 23 years old, has shown impressive performance in his first five starts with the Brewers, with a 4-1 record and an ERA of 2.81. His fastball averages 99.3 mph, and he has thrown 89 pitches that have reached 100 mph.
The young pitcher was chosen to replace the Chicago Cubs’ left-hander, Matthew Boyd, who will not be available for the game due to his commitment as a starter on Saturday.
If Misiorowski participates in Truist Park, it will mark the second consecutive year that a player sets a new milestone for the fewest games in MLB before being selected for the All-Star Game.
Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes, who is preparing for his second All-Star Game appearance, had made 11 starts in the Major Leagues when he was chosen as the National League starter for last year’s game.
Misiorowski joins the list as the thirtieth player to participate for the first time in the All-Star Game and the sixteenth replacement this year, raising the total of All-Stars to 80.Jacob Misiorowski, 23, ha realizado solo cinco aperturas para los Brewers esta temporada, con marca de 4-1 y una efectividad de 2.81, mientras que promedia 99.3 mph en su lanzamiento rápido.
More Changes in the All-Star Game Roster
In addition to Misiorowski, other changes to the All-Star Game rosters have been announced. Carlos Rodón of the New York Yankees, Carlos Estévez of the Kansas City Royals, and Casey Mize of the Detroit Tigers have also been designated as replacement pitchers in the American League.
Carlos Rodón, who will be participating in his third All-Star Game in five seasons, will replace teammate Max Fried. Fried will not be able to participate due to his commitment as a starter on Saturday.
Carlos Estevez of the Kansas City Royals replaces Jacob deGrom of the Texas Rangers, who is also scheduled to open on Saturday. Estevez was an All-Star in 2023 when he played for the Los Angeles Angels.
Casey Mize will take the place of Garrett Crochet from the Boston Red Sox, who will also start on Saturday. With Mize, the Tigers add six All-Stars, the most of any team and tie the franchise record.
Maikel García of the Kansas City Royals will replace Brandon Lowe of the Tampa Bay Rays, who was placed on the injured list due to a left oblique strain. With the additions of Estevez and García, the Royals now have four All-Stars.
The Seattle Mariners announced that center fielder Julio Rodríguez will not participate and will be replaced by teammate Randy Arozarena. Rodríguez was voted onto the American League roster by the players. The Mariners indicated that Rodríguez will take advantage of the break to “recover, rest, and prepare for the second half.”
Arozarena will participate in his second All-Star Game. He was a starter in left field for the American League two years ago, when he played for Tampa Bay. Arozarena was runner-up to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the 2023 Home Run Derby.
Drew Rasmussen, Rays right-handed pitcher, will participate in the All-Star Game for the first time, replacing Angels’ left-hander Yusei Kikuchi, who will start on Saturday night in Arizona. Rasmussen has a 7-5 record with a 2.82 ERA in 18 starts.
The San Diego Padres added a third National League reliever to the All-Star Game, left-hander Adrián Morejón, who replaces Philadelphia Phillies starter Zack Wheeler. Wheeler is scheduled to start Saturday night in San Diego. Morejón had a 1.71 ERA in 45 appearances before the weekend.
