Mets Send Kodai Senga to Triple-A
The New York Mets made the decision to send right-handed pitcher Kodai Senga to their Triple-A team, Syracuse, as announced by the team this Friday. This move comes after a period of difficulties for Senga, who has failed to complete six innings in a game since June 6. His earned run average (ERA) has been 6.56 in his last eight starts. In addition, Senga was out of action for more than a month due to a hamstring injury.Simultaneously, the Mets activated catcher Francisco Alvarez from the injured list and right-handed reliever Wander Suero, who was claimed after being placed on waivers by the Atlanta Braves on Thursday. Alvarez had been on the injured list since suffering a sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb last month. His return was delayed even further due to a fracture in the little finger of his left hand, the result of being hit by a pitch while playing for Syracuse. The UCL sprain will require surgery for a full recovery, but the Mets hope Alvarez can postpone the procedure until the offseason. Along with Senga, catcher Hayden Senger was sent to Syracuse.I’m sure we’ll have some conversations about what’s next for him. Our job is for him to recover. But it’s been a struggle.
