Mets Send Francisco Álvarez to Triple-A
The New York Mets have made the decision to send catcher Francisco Álvarez to their Triple-A team, Syracuse, as announced by the team on Sunday.
This measure comes after a series of difficulties for Álvarez on the field during the current season.
Catcher Hayden Senger has been promoted to the Major Leagues to fill the backup position, now behind starting catcher Luis Torrens.
The decision comes despite Álvarez’s performance on Saturday night, where he hit a home run in the 11-4 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies, which broke New York’s seven-game losing streak.
Despite this performance, Alvarez has had offensive struggles this season, batting .236, with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 35 games. His OPS is .652, with 38 strikeouts.
The Mets (46-31) face the Phillies (46-31) on Sunday night, tied for first place in the National League East standings.
