Mets Adjust Their Roster: Brazobán Sent to Triple-A, Devenski Called Up
The New York Mets have made important decisions regarding their pitching staff. The team has sent reliever Huascar Brazobán to Triple-A Syracuse and, simultaneously, has signed right-handed pitcher Chris Devenski.
Brazobán, 35, has had a season of ups and downs. His record is 5-2 with an ERA of 3.83 in 44 relief appearances. Initially, he established himself as one of the team’s best relievers, with an impressive ERA of 1.34 until the beginning of June. However, his performance has declined significantly since then, recording an ERA of 8.50 since June 2nd.
In Monday’s game against the San Diego Padres, Brazobán relieved starting pitcher Frankie Montas in the fifth inning. He failed to get out of a difficult situation, allowing runners on second and third to score runs. In his brief appearance, he allowed three consecutive run-scoring singles, threw a wild pitch, and issued a walk, completing two-thirds of an inning.
Devenski, 34, has alternated between Triple-A and the Mets’ main roster, showing a solid performance in his major league appearances.
In 10 relief appearances for the Mets this season, Devenski maintains an ERA of 2.38.
