The New York Mets pitcher, David Peterson, has been included in the National League roster for the All-Star Game, as announced on Thursday.

Peterson replaces San Francisco Giants’ left-handed pitcher, Robbie Ray.

This is the first All-Star selection for Peterson, who has a 6-4 record with a 3.06 ERA in 18 starts. The lefty pitched more than seven innings allowing one run in the Mets’ 3-1 loss to Baltimore on Thursday.

Peterson joins Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, and Edwin Diaz as the Mets’ representatives in the All-Star Game.

Ray, for his part, will not be active for Tuesday night’s Summer Classic in Atlanta, as he is scheduled to pitch for the Giants on Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Ray, 33 years old, has a 9-3 record with an ERA of 2.63 in 19 starts this season. He won the American League Cy Young Award in 2021 with the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Giants have three All-Stars: Ray, right-handed pitcher Logan Webb, and reliever Randy Rodriguez.

With the incorporation of Peterson, there are now a total of seven replacements and 72 players, including 22 rookies, between the two All-Star teams.
