The Mets Celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Beatles’ Historic Concert at Shea Stadium

New York – The New York Mets will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the iconic Fab Four’s performance at Shea Stadium during the game against the Seattle Mariners on August 15th, in what will be “Beatles Night” at Citi Field.

The 1965 presentation marked a milestone in music history, as The Beatles became the first rock band to offer a concert in a large stadium. A 50-minute documentary, titled “The Beatles at Shea Stadium”, immortalized this unforgettable spectacle. At that time, this multipurpose stadium was home to the Mets and the New York Jets.

The celebration will kick off with a performance by 1964 The Tribute in front of the Shea Bridge at 6:15 p.m. ET. The first 15,000 fans entering Citi Field will receive an exclusive replica of Shea Stadium.

The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by staff members who participated in the historical concert. To conclude the night, a themed fireworks display will be offered after the game.
