Mets Complete Their Coaching Staff for the Season
The New York Mets have finalized the composition of their coaching staff for next season, including the addition of Justin Willard as pitching coach.
Troy Snitker, son of former Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker, will assume the role of hitting coach. Snitker arrives after seven seasons as the Houston Astros’ hitting coach.
Willard joins the Mets from Boston, where he served as pitching director since November 2023.
These appointments add to a technical body that has undergone a significant renovation under the direction of manager Carlos Mendoza, after a season in which the Mets failed to qualify for the postseason.
Previously, the team announced the hiring of Kai Correa as bench coach and the promotion of Jeff Albert to MLB hitting director.
Dan McKinney will be the assistant pitching coach, while Gilbert Gómez will work as the first base coach and with the outfielders. Tim Leiper will be in charge of third base and will work with the infielders. J.P. Arencibia, who spent the last three seasons as a bench coach and hitting assistant in Triple-A Syracuse, will work with the catchers.
José Rosado returns as the Mets’ bullpen coach. Rafael Fernandez was promoted to assistant hitting coach and Danny Barnes will be the quality control coach.
