Mets Complete Their Coaching Staff for the New Season

The New York Mets have finalized the composition of their coaching staff, incorporating Justin Willard as pitching coach.

Troy Snitker, son of former Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker, will take on the role of hitting coach.

Snitker joins the Mets after serving as the Houston Astros’ hitting coach for the past seven seasons. His contract was not renewed in October.

Willard joins the team from Boston, where he served as launch director since November 2023.

These appointments add to a significant restructuring of the technical staff under the direction of manager Carlos Mendoza, following the season in which the Mets failed to qualify for the postseason, despite the incorporation of the outstanding right fielder Juan Soto, who finished third in the voting for the National League Most Valuable Player.

Previously, the team announced the hiring of Kai Correa as bench coach and the promotion of Jeff Albert to Major League hitting director.

Dan McKinney will be the assistant pitching coach. Gilbert Gómez will coach first base and work with the outfielders. Tim Leiper will be in charge of third base and work with the infielders. J.P. Arencibia, who spent the last three seasons as a bench coach and hitting assistant for Syracuse (Triple-A), will work with the catchers.

José Rosado returns as the Mets’ bullpen coach. Rafael Fernández was promoted to assistant hitting coach and Danny Barnes will be the quality control coach.
