Batting prospect Harry Ford has been promoted to the Major Leagues by the Seattle Mariners, taking advantage of the expansion of active rosters to 28 players. Ford, 22, proved his worth in Triple-A Tacoma, where he batted .283 with 16 home runs, 74 RBIs, 7 stolen bases, 74 walks and an OPS of .868 in 97 games. MLB Pipeline ranked him as the No. 40 overall prospect and No. 4 in the organization. Ford was selected at number 12 in the 2021 amateur draft, coming from North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, Georgia, and signed a bonus of $4,366,400.

Over five seasons in the minor leagues, Ford has maintained a .266 average with 52 home runs, 261 RBIs, 92 stolen bases, and an .832 OPS.

Born in Atlanta to British parents, Ford played a key role in Great Britain’s qualification for the 2023 World Baseball Classic, where he hit two home runs. Ford joins Logan Gilbert (2018), George Kirby (2019), Emerson Hancock (2020), and Cole Young (2022) as the five players selected in the first round of consecutive drafts on the Mariners’ active roster. In addition to Ford, the Mariners selected the contracts of right-handed pitcher Luke Jackson, recalled infielder Leo Rivas, and designated right-handed pitcher Sauryn Lao for assignment, while releasing infielder Donovan Solano.
