Seth Lugo to the injured list with back problems
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Royals have placed right-handed pitcher Seth Lugo on the 15-day injured list due to a lower back strain. The decision was made retroactive to Monday. Lugo, who was originally scheduled to start on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Angels, was scratched on Wednesday due to back discomfort.Right-handed pitcher Stephen Kolek took Lugo’s place on the roster. Kolek was expected to start Saturday against Minnesota.“He went out and tried to throw today,” Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Thursday. “His back was still pretty stiff, so we’re going to put him on the injured list.”
