Craig Kimbrel Signs with the Texas Rangers
The Texas Rangers have secured the services of experienced reliever Craig Kimbrel, who has signed a minor league contract this Wednesday.
Kimbrel, at 37 years old, will join the Triple-A Round Rock team this week.
Previously, Kimbrel pitched a scoreless inning with the Atlanta Braves before being designated for assignment last week. Instead of accepting being sent to their Triple-A affiliate, Gwinnett, he opted for free agency.
The right-handed pitcher is a nine-time All-Star and was a World Series champion with Boston in 2018. He has participated in 16 seasons in the Major Leagues, representing eight different teams. In his career, he has accumulated 440 saves in 838 appearances.
Last season, Kimbrel played with Baltimore.
