Craig Kimbrel Signs with the Texas Rangers
The Texas Rangers have secured the services of experienced reliever Craig Kimbrel, who signed a minor league contract on Wednesday.
Kimbrel, 37, will join the Triple-A Round Rock team this week.
Previously, Kimbrel pitched a scoreless inning with the Atlanta Braves before being designated for assignment last week. He opted for free agency instead of being sent to their Triple-A affiliate, Gwinnett.
The right-handed pitcher is a nine-time All-Star and won a World Series title with Boston in 2018. He has participated in parts of 16 seasons in the Major Leagues, playing for eight different teams. In his career, he has accumulated 440 saves in 838 appearances.
Last season, Kimbrel was part of the Baltimore team.
