Jed Hoyer Secures His Future with the Chicago Cubs
CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs have secured the continuity of their president of baseball operations, Jed Hoyer, with a multi-year contract extension, as announced on Monday. The agreement guarantees the permanence of Hoyer, 51, whose original contract expired at the end of the current season. Hoyer has been a key figure in the organization since his arrival as general manager in 2011, and was promoted to president of baseball operations in 2020, succeeding Theo Epstein. The announcement was made hours before the start of a crucial three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers, a direct rival in the National League Central Division. The Cubs, fueled by talents like Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker, were tied with the Brewers at the top of the league, both with an impressive 62-43 record.Hoyer expressed his enthusiasm for continuing to build on the current momentum and collaborate with an excellent baseball operations team to consistently deliver a championship team to the city. Tom Ricketts, chairman of the board, praised Hoyer and his team for building “a healthy player development organization” and for establishing “an exciting and playoff-aspiring team on the field.” Ricketts added that they are looking forward to the rest of the season and continuing to work with Jed in the years to come.I am very grateful for the trust and support of the Ricketts family, owners of the team, and I consider the Cubs a special organization with an incredible fanbase.
