Texas Rangers closer Luke Jackson suffered a mishap in the game against the Colorado Rockies. In the ninth inning, Jackson received a 111 mph hit that directly impacted his throwing hand.
The incident occurred in the only pitch he made in the game, right after entering the field. Although the initial X-rays were negative, Jackson’s hand showed notable inflammation.
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy mentioned the possibility of Jackson being placed on the injured list, but further evaluations will be awaited to make a final decision.
The hit was connected by Ryan McMahon, who hit the ball directly towards Jackson. The ball hit the pitcher’s hand and went up before falling, resulting in an infield single.
Jackson left the game immediately after the impact, receiving attention from the coaching staff.
We’ll see how he responds. But the hand immediately swelled up, so there’s some concern.

Rangers’ opening pitcher Tyler Mahle, who pitched for 6.1 innings for the win, expressed his solidarity with Jackson.
I was just trying to do what he does, and then something so unfortunate happens. It just sucks.

Texas also played without shortstop Corey Seager, who was out for the fourth time in five games due to hamstring discomfort.
Before the game, Bochy indicated there might be an update on Seager, but nothing happened. The two-time World Series MVP had already been on the injured list for a right hamstring strain from April 23 to May 3.
When asked about Seager after the game, Bochy responded: “No, no. We’ll know more tomorrow.”
The hit that Jackson hit occurred one inning after Brenton Doyle hit a line drive that was caught by Chris Martin.
Jacob Webb replaced Jackson and managed to get an out by fielder’s choice. The Rockies then loaded the bases.
The game ended with Webb earning his first save after Kyle Farmer hit a ground ball to third baseman Josh Jung, who stepped on the base and then threw to first to complete a double play.
That walk put him in trouble there. He lost it there for four pitches, but then he made a pitch when he had to to get the big double play.
