Triston Casas Faces Rehabilitation with Optimism After Injury
Boston Red Sox player Triston Casas is in the process of recovery after undergoing knee surgery, which will keep him off the field for the rest of the season. Despite the frustration, Casas remains positive and focused on his rehabilitation.
Casas spoke with reporters on Tuesday, for the first time since the surgery performed last month to repair the left patellar tendon. The injury occurred while running to first base.
I am living my worst nightmare right now having to go through a recovery of several months. But by going through this now, I feel that I will be better as a consequence of it. It’s part of the game.

Currently using crutches, Casas expects to leave them soon and move to the spring training facilities in Fort Myers, Florida. There, he will spend most of the summer and the offseason in rehabilitation, with the goal of being ready for the opening day of next season.
Before the injury, Casas was batting .182 with three home runs and 11 RBIs. His absence is also felt on defense, where the Red Sox have explored several options to replace him.
Since Casas’ injury, Abraham Toro and Romy Gonzalez have shared time at first base.
Casas, who also missed a significant portion of last season due to a rib cartilage injury, remains optimistic.
I’d rather be out there helping the team win games. But considering everything that has happened, I’m in a good mental state. I’m just focusing on having a healthy recovery and making progress every day.

The estimated recovery time does not exceed one year. The goal is to be ready for the opening day of next season, so Casas will take things easy, focus on rehabilitation, and maintain a positive mindset.
