Enrique “Kike” Hernández Undergoes Elbow Surgery

The versatile infielder, Enrique “Kike” Hernández, underwent surgery on his left elbow on Friday. The injury, with which he played during the successful season of the Los Angeles Dodgers, culminated in the victory in the World Series. Hernández, who is currently a free agent, revealed details of the surgical intervention through his social media.

Hernández shared on Instagram that he played with the injury since May and that this will prevent him from participating with Puerto Rico in next year’s World Baseball Classic.

During the regular season, Hernández was on the injured list for more than a month due to elbow problems, but he returned to action in August. The 34-year-old player batted .203 with 10 home runs and 35 RBIs in 92 games during the regular season. In the postseason, he contributed a .250 average, one home run and seven RBIs, as the Dodgers won their second consecutive title.
