Bryce Harper Nears Return to Phillies
Phillies’ first baseman Bryce Harper has taken a significant step in his recovery by facing live pitches at Truist Park. Harper, who suffered a right wrist injury, is in the process of rejoining the team. The player was placed on the 10-day injured list on June 6th. On Saturday, Harper traveled with the team to Atlanta and participated in a morning training session before the game against the Braves.Thomson also reported that Harper will not be training on the field on Sunday. The game on Saturday was the twenty-first consecutive that Harper has missed due to the injury. During this period, the Phillies have had an 11-9 record. Before the injury, Harper was batting .258 with nine home runs in 57 games this season. Harper is expected to be able to rejoin the lineup next week, when the Phillies host the Padres and Reds for three-game series each.“It was great. It seemed like he regained his bat speed and his timing looked good,” said Philadelphia manager Rob Thomson.
