ATLANTA – Cincinnati Reds right-handed pitcher Hunter Greene suffered a Grade 1 groin strain and will be placed on the injured list.
It’s not terrible.
Terry Francona, Reds manager
Francona added that Greene will likely miss one or two starts.
Greene felt the pull after throwing two warm-up pitches before the fourth inning during Wednesday night’s 4-3 victory in Atlanta and was removed from the game.
You don’t want to lose it for even a day. But considering everything, it’s going to be okay.
Terry Francona, Reds manager
So far this season, Greene has a 4-2 record with a 2.36 ERA in eight starts. He has 61 strikeouts in 45⅔ innings.
Greene has averaged 24 starts in his first three seasons in the Major Leagues and was selected to his first All-Star team last season.
Francona indicated that the team is still evaluating its options regarding a roster move and will have more information on Friday.
