San Francisco Giants Bolster Roster with Key Acquisitions
The San Francisco Giants have strengthened their roster with strategic moves, acquiring outfielder Joey Wiemer and securing right-handed pitcher JT Brubaker for the upcoming season.
The team announced the arrival of Wiemer, coming from the Miami Marlins, in exchange for cash. In addition, an agreement was reached with Brubaker, who signed a one-year contract.
These moves seek to revitalize the team, which has failed to qualify for the playoffs in the last four years.
Wiemer, 26, joins his fourth team in his Major League career, having played for Milwaukee, Cincinnati, and Miami. In his debut season in 2023, he played 132 games with the Brewers, and this year, with the Marlins, he participated in 27 games, where he hit three home runs and drove in 12 runs.
On the other hand, the Giants decided not to offer a contract for 2026 to left-handed pitcher Joey Lucchesi.
Giants management also made the decision to designate catcher Andrew Knizner for assignment.
With the arrival of new manager Tony Vitello, coming from the University of Tennessee, the team seeks a change of direction and to aim for better results in the next season.
