Incident at Comerica Park: Dennis Santana and a Fan
Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Dennis Santana was involved in an altercation with a fan during the second game of Thursday’s doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers. In videos spread on social media, Santana is seen pointing at the fan to a police officer before lunging and trying to hit the person, who was in the front row above the Pirates’ bullpen at Comerica Park. The fan was apparently wearing a Tigers cap and a jersey honoring Pirates Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente.Following the incident, Pirates bullpen personnel and a teammate intervened to separate Santana.
Santana entered the game in the ninth inning, pitching to one batter before the rain stopped the game. The Pirates won the game with a score of 8-4.
